ASA North West Regional Youth Championships
The North West Regional Youth Championships were held at Liverpool aquatic centre on 30 April & 1st May. City of Carlisle was represented by Jack Barker & Jack Kenwright.
Jack Kenwright was extremely pleased with his swims. In the 50 Butterfly he qualified ninth for the finals and after a storming 50m swim he finished in 6th position in a time of 27.93s which is faster than he has swum before both long course and short course. On the Sunday he qualified in 8th position for the final of the 50m Backstroke, in the final he finished in 7th place in a PB of 30.22s. In the 200m Backstroke he achieved a time of 2:27.05 and in the 100m Backstroke he finished in a PB of 1:05.41
Jack Barker had a very successful weekend winning both the 50m Breaststroke in a time of 31.47s and 100m Breaststroke in 1:09.38, both of which were PBs. In the 100m Freestyle he was placed 6th in the heats in another PB of 56.81, but did not swim the final to concentrate on the 200m Breaststroke. This paid dividends as he was placed second in National Qualifying time of 2:32.13. In the 50m freestyle he was placed 2nd in a time of 25.37s a d in the 50m Backstroke he was 9th in a time of 30.47.
This was a very successful weekend as both swimmers swam faster in their finals and achieved their targets. They also enjoyed being at a meet “without parents”! |
