Wake County Schools employs Standards Based Grading in Music. Students receive a content grade and a participation grade at the end of each semester. The content grade is a reflection of the growth and development of students as they participate in the elementary music instructional program. The content grade uses the rating scale of:
Level 4: Student consistently performs independently the Music Goal(s)identified, integrates personal experience and involves critical judgements.
Level 3: Student demonstrates continually improving knowledge and skills to show independent mastery of Music Goal(s).
Level 2: Student is inconsistent in demonstration of knowledge and skills to show mastery of identified Music Goal(s).
Level 1: Student is unable to exhibit knowledge and skills to show mastery of identified Music Goal(s).
The participation grade uses the rating scale of:
Level 3: Student meets expectations to join in ALL Music Learning Activities.
Level 2: Student inconsistently meets expectations to join in ALL Music Learning Activities.
Level 1: Student does not meet expectations to join in ALL Music Learning Activities.
Interims are sent as needed.
