George's sweet spirit left us the night of the lunar eclipse back in February of 2008.  His Indian name, The White Shadow, has an eerily powerful meaning when one imagines George's spirit rising and blocking out the shine from the moon.  For those who knew George well, imaging his aura having this powerful effect is not all too unimaginable.  His Daughters, Yahna Fiscarelli and Yarrow Maurer, have given us the honor of continuing on the Sweet Waters.  A tradition we hope will last for generations to come.  George's work on tapers was impressive and masterful.  He was dubbed another moniker, "Dr. Bamboo", and had comments on his tapers such as the late, great rodmaker, Digger Degere, stating that George's 48 Special was the best 4wt he had ever cast.  Some share the story of the "Trout Bum" named after John Gierach's great work...the first rod going out to John and never making it there...a casualty of someone's desire for the precious cane rod that was on its way from Pennsylvania to Colorado.  Others will share in their induction into the Starlight Creek Angling Society.  George's special friendship with the late Harry Middleton, both having passed well before their time, and Harry's beautiful, haunting books were a special part of the Sweet Water Legacy.  "Wild water abides" and the "ebb and flow, the rhythm of things that come and go" and of course "ollie ollie oxen free" shall forever warm our hearts and remind us of the safe base that is our beloved waters, the trout that entice us, and our favored talisman, the bamboo fly rod.  Its magic and grace, always alluring, add to the special moments that we hold so dear and share with our revered fellow anglers.  I would like to thank those that are helping us and supporting us in our endeavor to keep George's work and memory alive in our hearts and on our waters.  We are humbled with the ability to continue to share Sweet Water Rods with our fellow fisherman.

In the spirit of continuing George's memory, we are using the same cosmetics to the rods that George had chosen as special to his Sweet Water Rods.  We have a good stock of Circassian Walnut reelseats crafted specially from Bellinger that will be blued and the golden brown silk that George used on his wraps.  We are using titanium guides and using red agates on every new Sweet Water Rod.  Two Choices will be offered for handle shape, George's preferred forward half wells and the classic cigar shape.

Thank you for your support and we're honored to make you a Sweet Water Rod.
