Working Parties
VILLAGE HALL WORKING PARTIES
We are looking for volunteers to help us do some much needed spring cleaning at the Village Hall, April 7th/8th.
There will be three working parties required:
-
The stage: We need to clean the stage by removing all old masking tape, scrubbing off old paint marks and generally tidying up the stage area. There will also be some dusting of the surfaces, lighting gantries, curtains, etc, as well as sorting out bits and pieces and removing unwanted items to the tip.
-
The gallery: We need to empty the gallery at the back of the hall and sort through the accumulated props, costumes, curtains and assorted detritus that has gathered there. Most of it will need to be disposed of or taken away by some kind members to be stored in garages, lofts, etc. We'll also go through all the technical equipment and give that a thorough sort and clean out.
-
The garage. John Conway has done some fantastic work sorting out the garage but we need a group of us to get absolutely everything out and to go through it all to give us space to accommodate materials currently on the stage. We are grateful for the storage we have but it needs some better husbandry and it's too much to leave it all to John.
This work needs to be done in the next couple of months. The aim is to find some free Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons at the hall and to spend a concentrated couple of hours on each working party. Realistically we won't get it all done in one session, so there will probably be two or three.
If you are willing to volunteer, in principle, to help then please let Mark Ward know. The more members that turn out, the quicker the jobs will get done. Cleaning the stage, in particular, will be laborious, but we have done it several times before very successfully. The more people who turn up means less square footage per head to have to clean!
So please be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get dirty for a few hours. We'll all benefit in the long run.
Our thanks, in anticipation of a good response!
