This paper is an attempt to look into the justifications given for affirmative action, affirmative action policy of India and the discontent prevailing in the newer generation of Indian society because of the preferential treatment policies adopted by the Indian State so far. The paper also attempts, on a conceptual basis, to give the features of a good policy design.
