COSTS

SOUTHERN VERMONT BROADBAND COOPERATIVE

Members of the cooperative receive high-speed wireless access to the internet at a cost of $40 a month, paid to the cooperative.

The cooperative absorbs all the costs of a connection between the member's house and our link to the internet. Volunteers from the cooperative provide the human capital for installations and maintenance, and they do this at no charge. The receiving radios themselves are paid for by the cooperative out of income from monthly payments and gifts. Installers program the radio and set up an account for each member.

Members who choose to use wireless or wired routers to connect to SVBC's radio receivers must pay for those routers and all ancillary equipment themselves. Our maintenance and installation responsibilities end where the cable from our radio enters the member's house.

Sometimes a member of the cooperative may choose to volunteer, as an individual, to set up routers, computers, etc., but this is in no way an obligation the cooperative has to each member.
