Performance Task: 50 States in 50 Days

  1. Go to Google Maps, click on My Maps and then click Create New Map.
  2. Use "Draw Shape" to color in all 50 states.
  3. On each shape include 15 facts about each state.
  4. Include 10 pictures showing the facts you found for each state.
  5. Decide what place you would like to visit in all 50 states and Washington D.C.
  6. Save driving directions to each place. (You can fly to Alaska and Hawaii by drawing a line on the map.)
  7. Complete the budget worksheet to show how much it would cost to actually travel to every state in the nation.
  8. Insert your Google Map and Budget Worksheet to your Web Portfolio by 3/19.
Exceed Standard (Extra Credit)
  1. Record an audio tour of your trip around the United States in Google Earth and post the video to YouTube.
  2. Find a Restaurant for dinner and a hotel (or campsite) for the night in every city you visit.  Update your budget based with actual hotel (or campsite) costs.
  3. Find the lowest gas price in each state and update your budget based on actual gas costs.
  4. Get Travel Guides for all 50 states.
  5. Create a blog that lists the 50 places you visited with all the information you found about each place.
  6. Include as much information in each pin about the place you are visiting as possible.
