This season we have two units, Shades Valley Scholastic A and Shades Valley JV, who will be competing in the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit.  In addition, the A guard will travel to Atlanta to perform in the World Guard International Power Regional. This will be Shades Valley’s first time in over five years to compete in a WGI Regional event.

Championships Update: On the weekend of March 27-28, we had a wonderful trip to Nashville, TN and had the opportunity to perform at Vanderbilt University for the Southeastern Color Guard and Percussion Circuit Championships. The JV guard placed second in the Novice class winning a silver medal and being named Alabama State Champions. The Varsity guard placed 7th out of 13 units competing in the Scholastic AA class with a stunning performance of their 2009 program "Always Time." Marching Band Fall 2008

This fall, the band performed the show entitled "The New Deal." Draped in sparkling blue and green era-fitting costumes, the guard performed to music inspired by the triumph of American determination, patriotism, and hope after The Great Depression.

After summer training and beginning school, we love entertaining the crowds at our football games. Go Mounties! Shades Valley had the pleasure to host the Jefferson County Band Jamboree where we were able to watch and perform for other area bands. Next we were off to Nashville, TN for the Vanderbilt Marching Invitational. Locally, we competed for our third year at the Pride of the Valley Marching Contest hosted by Pinson High School. Always reaching to new heights, the band competed for the first time in the Bands of America Super Regional in Atlanta, GA.
