Welcome to the website for the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP) in New Orleans.
(The photo at left is of the school and at right is of the department store -- in the snow!)

At this site you will see documents and materials for long-term use for SVDP New Orleans. Also, you will see articles describing the functions of   SVDP and its service to the needy in the Greater New Orleans area.

Presently, SVDP operates a free community pharmacy, a department store, and a free school for literacy skills and GED preparation (high school equivalency). Also, SVDP helps administer the Ozanam Inn (a homeless shelter) and the SVDP cemeteries.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society has been serving the poor in Greater New Orleans since 1852 (since before the Civil War)!
