Dear Celebrant,

Thanks so much for agreeing to be the celebrant for a Sunday service!  This is a huge gift -- not only to the regular crowd, but also and especially to those newcomers who come through our doors for the first time feeling a little nervous.  As Celebrant, you will welcome them and help them feel secure.

A little preparation is needed to make the service run smoothly and to enable you to enjoy your work.

Just about everything you will need is in this section of the website.

We recommend that you download, print out and read the “Instructions for Celebrants,” and the “Script for Celebrants,” at least a week in advance.  PLEASE feel free to improvise, make this your own service -- change the order of things, bring in your own readings, add extra music, responsive readings, whatever you like.  This structure is intended to make your job easier, NOT to dictate the exact shape of the service.

If you will be working with a GUEST SPEAKER, please be sure to contact him or her at least a week beforehand.  Their contact information is listed on the "WORSHIP CALENDAR 2010-11."  There is a sample email template that you can use to communicate with the guest speakers.  

And please be sure to send your order of service to the church office by TUESDAY NOON of the week prior to your Sunday.  Communicate with Sally Riggers if you need to decide on hymns.
