Embracing Fallibility: What’s Right About Being Wrong?”  Our admission of being wrong, rather than a sign of weakness is actually a sign of strength. When we acknowledge our mistakes, we remove ourselves from the impossible pedestal of perfection and admit that we are indeed part of the human race.  We’ll explore notions, feelings and experiences of being wrong, based on American journalist Kathryn Schulz’s informative and entertaining book, “Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error.”

“Speaking Out, Creating Justice”    By bringing our prophetic voices to the public square and acting for the greater good, we live our Unitarian Universalist values.  In doing so, we become more fully human.

The Reverend Carol McKinley serves as coordinator of Washington State UU Voices for Justice, our statewide legislative advocacy network, and is an affiliated community minister with the Olympia UU Congregation.

"Less than Human":  How does our first UU Principle, affirming and promoting the inherent worth and dignity of every person, conflict with our deep-rooted temptation to dehumanize and objectify our enemies?  Philosopher David Livingstone Smith has analyzed the history of dehumanization, its terrible consequences, and our responsibility as moral beings to stand over and against this destructive tendency.

“Thankless Thanksgiving“ Is Your Thanksgiving Turning into a Thankless Disas-
ter? Rev. Barbara Davenport revisits the premise “error is a major source of hu-
mor”. She suggests that you deal with the holidays with humor and humility. Bar-
bara invites you to send your stories of Thanksgiving calamities to her for possible
inclusion in her sermon. Please email her by November 3 with your crisis moments
at bcdaven@earthlink.net.

"The Deep Thanksgiving of Our Souls"

The spiritual challenge of Thanksgiving in troubled times is to give thanks while acknowledging and owning our pain and our concern for the world.  Can we find joy and abundance of spirit when our hearts are hurting?  Let's explore together.

 Thanksgiving is Nov. 24.

"The Real Thanksgiving” is a lay-led service. Everyone is invited to share their
thoughts, favorite poems, and seasonal songs. Sally will be visiting Wisconsin, so
everyone willing to reveal their hidden, or maybe not-so-hidden, musical talents are
encouraged to join in. Bring kazoos, guitars, ukuleles, drums, and homemade in-
struments to church. Welcome in the holiday season with this joyful service.
