 We are self Help Community based group in Butambala, Mpigi,rural Uganda formed in October 2009. However, our work will not be limited to this one
area and we intend to spread our assistance changing one village at a time for the better. Butambala is to be our "nursery bank" a major weapon we need to fight and achieve sustainable livelihoods for all.
 We are commited to following the sustainable livelihoods initiative not just as a goal but as an approach too, enabling adults and children in need get themselves out of poverty.
We are great belivers in teaching a man to fish and not giving them fish every time they are hungry. That is why this "nursery bank" is being created so that we dont request our very generous donors for money to buy e.g seeds(some), poultry, and set up a piggery twice. Our projects in different areas will be strictly run on the availability of seeds saved and we expect that village assisted to contribute to the development of another through seed saving too.
Location:
We are located in central Uganda. Almost an hour and a half from the capital city Kampala.
The People:
You couldnt find any more hospitable people in the country itself ( please note: am more than biased). The residents in this area are of the Baganda tribe and both moslems and christians, all irrespective of religion live with respect of eachother and in harmony.
Behind the smiles, extreme poverty, illiteracy, pandemic levels of HIV/AIDS are rooted. |
