Objective: To assess the work of the Social Sustainability and Environmental Sustainability Criteria Development Subcommittees to determine the impacts of the identified criteria on Economic Sustainability.

Draft Framework for Economic Sustainability

Economic Principles (excerpted from the Mission & Principles Task Force Sustainability Principles Document):  The standard should support practices that maintain the economic viability of the operation by taking into consideration:
  • Financial stability for the producer
  • Farm productivity
  • Intergenerational equity*
* It has been recommended that the first bullet point state "Financial stability for the producer, in both the near-term and the long-term" and that the last bullet point be removed.This will be discussed during the next Economic Sustainability Subcommittee conference call, TBA.
