Phantom Lover

"Feast your eyes, glut your soul on my cursed ugliness!
Look at Erik's face!"

-Gaston Leroux

I love the Phantom of the Opera in all its forms, Leroux, Kay, ALW and many others. I love POTO stories based in the late 19th century, as well as the modern day ones. For me the most important and defining characteristic of Erik is his deformity. It is the reason why the world shunned him, and thusly created the anti-social creature that he ultimately became.

This was my debut year (2006) as a writer of fan fiction. Having read, and re-read most of the Phantom related material available, I still was not sated. When I found the ff.net, I realized that at last I could have control over Erik’s and Christine’s destinies, at least in my stories. Pairing Christine with Raoul is the most logical, simplest solution to the love triangle. That is precisely  why I never write that pairing. Erik is an extremely difficult character. He is deformed, insane, extremely controlling, obsessive, and a genius. Erik makes you look beyond yourself.  It is difficult to write a believable  Erik/Christine pairing.  Why would she love him?  Perhaps for the same reasons  so many of us do.

I have been accused of comparing Phantom of the Opera characters/events to real life. Guilty! Yes, I do that often, I make no excuses. Recently in a fast food place I saw a server mistreating a deaf person. Immediately I thought, that is just how Erik would be treated. Returning home from the airport, I got into a taxi and thought, ‘if Erik had needed a cab, no driver would stop for him because of his mask.’  Compassion  does not flow  easily in our  society.  Erik's  plight  makes me  stop,  and analize my own  definitions of  beauty and uglyness. It has made me reexamine my own prejudices. Ultimately, I ask myself if I met Erik could I love him?

The purpose of this Website is so that I can post extra information to accompany my stories. I always do research before and as I write about a 19th century dress, food, drink, or mode of transportation. Often I come up with information or pictures that might be of interest to my readers. Here are some pictures that might pique your interest or add to your enjoyment of the story.

My first full length fan-fic was The Match. It is based on the ALW Erik with heavy Kay/Leroux influence. The story begins after Erik lets Christine go and is based in the late 1870’s.

I am presently writing another period piece based in 1883. This one is titled Black Despair. This story is strictly Leroux based. Erik is not half masked, or partially handsome, nor is he 'nice', although he is always a gentleman. He has a full faced deformity, has bouts of insanity, and is obsessively in love with Christine. It is a romance with an E/C pairing.

I have plans for a very modern, sexy piece for early next year.  I have already begun to write the plot outline, and characters for that piece.

I will also write a short E/C story for Christmas '06. This will be published after December 20th. It is not titled yet. It will be updated every two or three days ending on January 6th. The official last day of the Christmas season.
