Angi Barton and the Trio

We are Angi Barton and the Trio - a Surrey-based jazz and swing band who started playing together out of sheer love for the music we make and the songs we adore.

We launched our live career playing as resident jazz band at POST in Banstead, the Surrey Restaurant of TV Celebrity Chef, Tony Tobin. You can see us there most months (but book well head, it's a popular night!)

Our repertoire is built around the Great American Songbook - the tunes and words of the greats that emerged from the American jazz scene from 1930 onwards. We love swing too - and sometimes even stray towards our own interpretations of cool classics from Dusty Springfield and Nancy Sinatra.  The list of songs we play is large but the list of tunes we can and could play is huge.  We have developed a knack of adding special occasional twists to our sets... it might be a different beat, a shift of tempo, movement from one tune into another we believe is its long-lost cousin.  However you'd describe it, it works.

To give you a flavour of our music, in the navigation bar on the left you'll find our songbook. It includes many tunes we've never played live but would love to!

We're not a noisy pub band and we don't play Top of the Pops covers, but we're not precious either... We believe in fun and the joy of a well-turned song. Between the four of us we have well over 100 years of musical experience because we all started young and stuck to it.
