Dawn Carson (Department Head)

Dawn Carson, the learning support department head at Surrey Connect, has been teaching in the district for 25 years. She is a special education "specialist" who enjoys teaching students to use adaptive technology such as Inspriation and Kursweil. Her education includes a B. Ed.in Special Ed., a post - baccalaureate diploma in adaptive technology, and a diploma in therapeutic recreation. Dawn takes care of all of our Part-time designated students and organizes the onsite FastForward program. When she is not working she enjoys traveling, gardening and spending time with her family. |

Judy Graham

Judy Graham is a long time teacher in the district. Judy organizes the English Language Learner support at the Surrey Connect Newton location. She has a bachelors degree from UBC with a major in art as well as a Bachelors of Education and a diploma in Special Education. In her spare time, Judy enjoys sailing on her boat and spending time at her cottage on the island. |

Elenna Nickel

Elenna Nickel joined the Surrey Connect learning team in the Fall of 2008. Elenna's educational journey began at the University College of the Fraser Valley where she obtained a bachelors of Science with a Math major. After a year off to pursue her passion for horses, Elenna returned to education and graduated in 2006 with a bachelors of education and started her career teaching math at the high school level. It was during her time at LA Matheson, teaching with Judy Graham that she was inspired to transition to Special Education. She is currently continuing her education at UBC taking courses towards a degree in Special Education. |

Susan Hartwell

Susan Hartwell has been a member of the Surrey Connect LST since September 2005. She has taught in the Surrey School District for over twenty years at several secondary schools, including Princess Margaret, Frank Hurt, and Earl Marriott. Susan has a Bachelor of Education, majoring in Business Education, as well as a Diploma in Special Education, majoring in Learning Disabilities, from the University of British Columbia. Her favorite subjects are Science and Math. |
