To whom it may concern BHIKKUNI ORDINATION OF 22ND OCTOBER 2009 IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA I am a regular supporter of the Bikkhuni Sangha at Dhammasara monastery, and a full member of the Buddhist Society of Western Australia. I am also a well-educated Western woman for whom the issue of gender imbalance has been an occasional stumbling block in terms of the faith I have placed, and continue to place, in the Theravada tradition. I would like to state my full and absolute support for the sentiment expressed in the letter posted to this site by Jake Mitra on behalf of the Buddhist Council of Western Australia. I congratulate the four Bikkhunis at Dhammasara, whose practice I have only ever found exemplary and inspiring in every way, and I am grateful to the monks, nuns, lay men and lay women who attended and made possible the full ordination ceremony on 22 October 2009.
