Josh & Jessica
Adventures in Married Land
UsWe have been together since 1998, and were recently married in October 2006. We enjoy local music, spending time with friends, and getting a queit evening at home whenever we can. Currently we live in a super tiny, somewhat crappy apartment in Texas, but we hope that won't always be the case. Josh is a drummer for a local band, The Chemistry Set. He also gives drum lessons, and loves video games and programming his own music. I love accompanying Josh to his shows, cooking, and watching movies, especially classic films. Midnight In The Garden of Good And Evil
| Our Wedding: Our Home:Living Room DecorOur Living Room's decor is based on a vintage movie theme. We chose posters for movies that we love and enjoy to decorate the space. We purchased our sofa and chair from Ikea, inherited a large glass and iron coffee table from Josh's aunt and uncle, and have a black and pewter entertainment center and bookshelf. Our Dining RoomOur Dining Room is a little nook opposite the kitchen. We have a vintage upright piano that I intend to refurbish one day, our table & chairs (not that bench or ugly rug), and the area is decorated with colorful vintage dishclothes and paintings from family and friends. I love having friends over for dinner, especially with our lovely new dishes from Pottery Barn. Our KitchenOur Kitchen is decorated with a vintage wine & alcohol theme with coordinating textiles and a lot of the color yellow. Our kitchen is very small, so I can't have as many neat gadgets and tools as I'd like, but I make do with what I have. We received a lot of wonderful items at our wedding, which have made my cooking adventures much more fruitful. Our BathroomOur Bathroom is done in white, brown, and green. We love our new towels, especially because we were using pink hand-me-downs from my Great Aunt before the wedding! I haven't chosen any wall decor for the bathroom yet. I have 2 shelves from Target on the wall to hold extra toiletries, but that's it. They're extra helpful since our cat claims the cabinet under the sink as his territory. We also have stupid shower doors, so I can't choose a cute shower curtain to coordinate. Oh well. Our BedroomWe decided on a vacation/retreat theme for our bedroom based on our bedding, and to continue the vintage vibe through from the kitchen and living room. We are totally in love with our bedding! Our Pottery Barn quilt is super soft to the touch. In fact we were planning on choosing a striped duvet cover, but when we felt this quilt in the store we had to have it. Throw in our fabulous 400 thread-count sheets, new fluffy pillows, and mattress topper, and we wish we never had to leave our bed! We are hoping to have Josh's uncle help us build a new upholstered or slipcovered headboard, based on the Pottery Barn bed below. The bookcase is from Ikea, the cocktail table from Target is our new TV stand, and we recently received these posters for the walls. I still have to get frames for them, as well as the honeymoon pics we want to put up to match the vacation theme. Over the bed we will put up a collage of wedding pictures, along with a shadowbox with mementos on a ledge with our cake topper- a silver 'H' paperweight. Inspirational Decor PicsOur Honeymoon:Velarde, New MexicoWe spent the first 2 nights of our trip at Casita la Joya, which was wonderful. We can't wait to go back, and wish we had had more time to stay there during our trip. Santa Fe, New MexicoWe spent 4 nights in Santa Fe at Las Palomas, which was lovely. We were able to walk most anywhere we wanted to visit in Downtown Santa Fe. We ate a ton of great food, saw a lot of interesting things, and beautiful places. Our Kitty: We adopted our kitty, Marvin, when he showed up on our back porch, barely 8" long. He's 4 years old now and over 14 pounds. He can be very annoying, mostly because he's spoiled, but we love him just the same. |
