Dear Christian Friends We would like to thank you for your faithful support of Sunset Bible Camp. The camp was a flurry of activities all summer. It was a wonderful season and a blessing to the campers and all the workers and volunteers. In total we had 107 baptisms at Sunset and many decisions for the Lord. We wrapped up the summer season with a final week of camp in August. There were about 90 people in this week of camp. There were also 2 family reunions scheduled and Osage Hills Christian Church had a picnic one Sunday afternoon. We are ready for the slowdown in activities and welcome the weekend retreats that are scheduled. The annual General Board Meeting is coming up this October. It is scheduled for October 18th at 7 p.m. at Sunset Bible Camp. Please mark that on your calendars. We will be mailing an invitation next month with all the pertinent information. Dear Christian Friends We have had an absolutely wonderful summer. The 2nd Graders kicked off the camp season and we had 56 campers. They had a great time praising the Lord and doing lots of activities. The 2nd Graders raised $120.55 that went to Cookson Hills. The next group to come out was the High School students. There were 69 campers and 7 of them were baptized at camp. They raised funds for Blackbox International, an organization that ministers to boys rescued from sex trafficking. They raised $304.60. There were 169 campers for 7th & 8th Grade camp and 7 were baptized at Sunset. This was the largest group and we were feeding about 240 people at each meal. The camps for 5th & 6th Grade and 3rd & 4th Grade went extremely well. There were 143 campers for 5th & 6th Grade and 146 campers for 3rd & 4th Grade. The younger groups are a lot of fun and they had two great weeks of camp with a lot of outdoor water activities. These kids also chose to support Blackbox International for their missions. They raised $519.14 and $706.21 respectively. Each of these camps had a baptism. There were other groups that rented the campground, once our weeks were over. We are finishing up on 10 straight weeks of camps. There have been another 77 baptisms so far. Praise the Lord! God is truly moving in the lives of kids and these facilities enable them to grow closer to Jesus Christ, our Savior. We are so blessed to be able to manage Sunset Bible Camp for you. We appreciate each of you for your prayers and support throughout the year. |
Dear Christian Friends Sunset Bible Camp is available to its members year round and our family is grateful for the opportunity to serve you. We are thankful for your generous support and for your prayers. In February, Sunset Bible Camp hosted its annual Mid-winter retreat. There were about 80 young people in attendance and the weather that weekend was fabulous. Steve Johnson of Osage Hills Christian Church was in charge of the “Polar Bear Club” and 25 new members took the plunge. I have been able to visit with several churches and update them on the camp. We have a new promotional video that I have shown to our members. If you have not seen the video, go to Sunset’s website and check it out or call or write us for a copy. The start of summer camp is about two months away and it is an exciting time around the camp as we get ready. Just recently Osage Hills Christian Church came out to help us trim and cut down dead trees. There were 29 people who came out to help. First Christian Church in Sapulpa and Cedar Ridge Christian Church are scheduled to come out and work later this spring. They will be helping with painting, yard work and some minor repairs. The Board of Trustees of Sunset Bible Camp has instituted a new policy regarding sponsors/volunteers at camp. To ensure the safety of our children every adult sponsor or volunteer must agree to submit to a background check. Because of this extra expense, we are asking for $10 to complete the background check. Sunset Bible Camp will continue to provide our sponsors and volunteers housing and meals at no cost. Thank you for your investment of time in the children that attend Sunset Bible Camp each summer. |

Dear Christian Friends We would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and lots of happiness during this time where we celebrate the birth of our Savior. We thank the Lord for you and for your prayers and generosity to Sunset Bible Camp. We had three groups come out to the camp during November. There were youth groups from Highland Park Christian Church and Northside Christian Church. We also rented the facilities to Grace Refuge for their church Fall Retreat. Things will wind down for the month of December and will give us an opportunity to take care of repairs around the camp. Last year, around this time, we told you about our 2010 PAYDOWN CAMPAIGN to help pay off the dorms. We were able to raise $4075, so far this year, and our goal is to raise at least $60,000 to pay off the dorms. We would like to continue to expand here at the camp, and right now we have a huge need for a larger chapel, but with the debt of the new dorms we are at a standstill. I know the economy has slowed and financial support for the camp has been down, but we serve a mighty God who knows our needs and will provide for us. I hope that your church will consider additional gifts to help us pay down the loan and start making plans for a great new chapel that will accommodate everyone inside during our camp season. We thank you for your prayers and support. It is awesome to work for the Living God here at Sunset Bible Camp. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve in this wonderful place. We had a great General Board Meeting and we thank all those who attended. There were no new Trustees nominated but two Trustees whose terms were ending were willing to serve again. Those Trustees were Lee Hamilton of Osage Hills Christian Church and Steve Moss of Boulevard Christian Church. Steve Moss also showed a promotional video he and a man from his church worked on this past summer. It was excellent and we hope to have copies available to all the member churches soon. The 2011 Camp Dates were presented and accepted and the dates and Deans are as follows: 2nd Grade Day Camp June 4 Dean - Stony Capehart 9th - 12th Grade Camp June 5 – 10 Dean - Bryan Champ 5th - 6th Grade Camp June 13 – 17 Deans - Micheal Byrd, Dawn Moss, Drew Crisp 7th - 8th Grade Camp June 19 – 24 Dean - Lane Moss 3rd - 4th Grade Camp June 27 – 29 Deans - Micheal Byrd, Dawn Moss, Drew Crisp We had a couple of retreats this past October. The ladies of Cedar Ridge Christian Church were here to hold their yearly stamp camp. Dear Christian Friends We are thankful to you for your prayers and financial support. Although, summertime is the season where we are busy reaching young people for Christ, Sunset Bible Camp is available year round for weekend retreats. Many young people develop their relationship with Christ through these retreats. Your support plays a big part in having the camp facilities available for these relationships to take place. We had a great month this August with many groups enjoying the camp. Two churches split the first week of August and had family style camps. They were able to enjoy the warm summer and had fun at the lake with the Orbit. There were two churches that came out after church on Sunday afternoon to hold church picnics. There was also 40 fathers and sons ages 13 to 18 who came out for a weekend. This was a time for them to connect with each other and with God. How awesome is that! There were a couple of volunteers from Boulevard Christian Church who came out and helped us work on the zip lines. One of the men, Rick, was here during the summer camp season and had a great idea to improve the safety of the zip lines, so he called and arranged for a time to come out and help us. We are truly thankful to volunteers who come out and give of their time and talents. Just because the summer season is over does not mean that the Lord won’t move in the lives of people. We are privileged to be able to help upkeep Sunset Bible Camp to be used for the work of the Lord. Sunset Bible Camp is a place where people can learn about and grow closer to the Lord. With your help that is exactly what is happening. We are still raising funds to PAYDOWN the new dorms loans. We will be raising the funds all year long. Dear Christian Friends Wow! It truly is difficult to believe that another camp season has gone by. We had a fantastic summer here at Sunset Bible Camp. It was great to start our camp season with a refurbished swimming pool with all the lights working. And speaking of lights we did replace all the light fixtures in the basketball pavilion and when the lights were on, in the evenings, it looked like day light. The summer started off with 2nd Grade Day Camp. There were 42 children in attendance and Stony and Dana Capehart were Deans. They did a great job sharing Jesus with the children and introducing them to Sunset Bible Camp with lots of fun and games. Their missions money went to Cookson Hills. The Deans for High School week were Jimmy Foreman and Brian Champ. There were 97 campers during this week and Jimmy got to baptize two of the boys that he has been ministering to. This group raised $614.08 to support Team Expansion’s work in Afghanistan. There were 142 campers during Jr. High Week and Kyle Rodell and Lane Moss were Deans. There were three young men baptized that week. One young man called his Mom to let her know of the baptism. She told him that he already was baptized as a baby, and he responded this time it’s “my decision”. Praise the Lord. Steve and Dawn Moss were Deans of 5th & 6th Grade Camp and 3rd & 4th Grade Camp. They did a wonderful job and had everything running smoothly. There were 154 5th & 6th graders and 6 children were baptized. This group raised $638.50 for missions. There were 160 3r & 4th graders and they raised $783.62 for missions. These two camps raised $1422.12 for Rapha House Girls Home, a ministry that rescues girls from slavery. There were other churches that used our facilities after our weeks of camps were over. There were over 1800 people who camped at Sunset this summer and 31 baptisms at the camp. The summer was amazing and we want to thank all the workers and volunteers who make it possible. Thank you for your prayers and support, this ministry is succeeding in reaching young people for Christ because of your faithfulness and generosity. Dear Christian Friends Spring is in the air at Sunset Bible Camp and we want to thank you for your faithful support. You are a blessing to the many campers that come out every summer and have their lives changed for the Lord. We have had a great time this past month. There were youth groups from Cedar Ridge Christian Church and Antioch Christian Church during the month of March. It is always great to have the facilities available for the youth to use during other times. The youth of Antioch Christian Church spent their Saturday morning doing some service projects around the campgrounds. We really appreciate their hard work. By now, you all should have received the promotional materials for camp. Please let us know if you need any extra posters or brochures. Remind your campers that the deadline for the $30 discount is May 9, 2010. We want everyone to be able to take advantage of this discount. We are still raising funds to PAYDOWN the new dorms loans. This February we had Sandusky Avenue Christian Church bring their Jr. High kids for a Purity Retreat. Woodland Hills Christian Church brought out their youth as well and even though the weather wasn't that great everyone had a great time. We are grateful for your prayers and gifts that allow us to keep the premises available to our members, for use, year round. By this time, everyone should have received their Promotional Materials for summer camp. Please let us know if you have not. We will get those to you as soon as possible. The online registration is now open and some have already taken advantage of the Early Bird Special. We are also taking applications for the CIT's (counselor in training). The deadline for all CIT applicants is April 1st and all pertinent information can be found on our website. Dear Christian Friends Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support of Sunset Bible Camp. We are excited to begin another year serving the Lord and the young people who come to Sunset to grow closer to the Lord. During the month of January, we had two Leadership Retreats at Sunset Bible Camp. Mission Christian Church and First Christian Church of Sapulpa came out and enjoyed the tranquil setting and the fire place in the Dining Hall. Liz and the girls fixed the meals and everyone was well fed. The annual Mid-Winter retreat was held for the high school students. It was a great time of fun and worship for the 158 people that attended the retreat. Jodi and her son came out to cook the meals and Liz was thankful to the Sandusky Christian Church ladies that helped serve the meals during the retreat. The Polar Bear Club had new inductees and 25 people jumped in the lake on Saturday morning. This is an annual event that many look forward to during this retreat. We have a couple of retreats scheduled for February and March and a couple of cancellations due to the weather. If you would like to schedule a weekend, contact us or check the calendar online for date availability. Sunset Bible Camp is a great place to spend a weekend. I am truly thankful to you for your support and prayers. I hope your Thanksgiving holiday was a blessing to you and your family.
Three different groups came out to Sunset Bible Camp during the month of November. Rolling Hills Christian Church, Northside Christian Church and Grace Refuge were here to hold youth and leadership retreats. Each weekend was great and the temperatures were mild. There has been a lot accomplished at the camp this month. There were improvements to the swimming pool deck and a new cover. A new drain was installed to comply with new government rules. We also have new heaters installed in the Chapel Dorms. It has been wonderful to be able to accomplish some of these projects. This will insure that Sunset Bible Camp will be around for a long time to serve our member churches, and especially our youth, reaching them for Christ. Sunset Bible Camp is starting the “2010 PAYDOWN” Capital Campaign to pay off the dorms in 2010. The trustees and I are appealing to you to help us pay off the loan that was taken to build the four New Dorms. Our hope is that you will be able to help us by encouraging your mission's committee to consider additional gifts to Sunset Bible Camp. There also may be church members that would be able to give on a monthly basis or a special one time gift to help reduce the $60,000 debt that Sunset Bible Camp still owes on that loan. The “2010 PAYDOWN” will be a special designation you can place on checks that are over and above normal giving. We encourage you to share the “2010 PAYDOWN” Capital Campaign with your congregation. Dear Christian Friends With fall upon us, we are grateful to you for helping with the up keep of this facility. The prayers and financial support you give benefit more people than you can imagine. Your gifts help the young people and adults who come to Sunset Bible Camp grow closer to the Lord. The month of October brought many of our member churches to Sunset Bible Camp. It is great to have youth and adult groups enjoy the beautiful fall season. The ladies of Cedar Ridge Christian Church came out for their Stamp Camp and are already planning next year's camp. Osage Hills Christian Church had their Leadership Retreat. The men had their meals prepared by us and enjoyed the fireplace in the dining hall. Jimmy Foreman and Steve Johnson brought their youth on two different occasions. They first brought the High School group for their yearly fall retreat. The Jr. High School kids came out the last weekend of October and several of the boys from Sandusky swam across the lake. These guys are warming up to be part of the Polar Bear Club. The weather was sunny, but it was chilly. The annual board meeting was held on October 26th. We are thankful to all who came out to tour the camp and to find out about the improvements being made. The tentative dates for next year's camp are on the website and we encourage you to visit the site at www.sunsetbiblecamp.org to see if you would be available to help out next years camp season. You will have a very memorable time and grow closer to the Lord. Our prayer is that each group that comes out to Sunset Bible Camp will find peace and nurture a closer relationship to the Lord. Dear Christian Friends This past month has been great. We are still hosting weekend events at Sunset Bible Camp. It is wonderful to have a facility that is a blessing to our members year round. We had a family reunion from Osage Hills spend a day in September. The following weekend there was a Youth and Adult Retreat that did training on smoking cessation. The ages of the participants varied and they enjoyed the lake and the pool on their free time. Elizabeth and the girls fixed the meals for this group. The next weekend the ladies of Glencoe Christian Church had their retreat and they enjoyed a great time of fellowship as well as beautiful weather. It is starting to cool off, but we still have some other retreats scheduled for the next couple of months. Call the camp if you want to schedule an event. You can fix your own meals or let us help with that. Our annual meeting is scheduled for Monday October 26th at 7 p.m. You may come over earlier and tour the camp and join us for sandwiches and finger foods at 6:30 p.m. Last week we mailed a letter and flier to all the member churches for use as an insert in their bulletins. This meeting is open to all members of Sunset Bible Camp and it is your opportunity to voice your opinions on the budget for 2010 and vote on camp dates for next year.
