3D Solar cells arrangement

 



3D solar cell arrangement is a very effective way of converting solar energy into electricity. Since almost all world's available optimization and reinforcement techniques limit to the concentration of light, further performance of these systems is hardly possible:



The present solution is slightly different. Here, not only light but also the solar cells in a small space is concentrated. The fact that two
solar cells provide more and more performance when only one, is well known and need no special explanation here. Something unusual
is that however made a single from two solar panels, to save space and then in the end to win, more energy.

This is also a base of the present technology and needs a short description:
 
With a daylight concentrator, without heat concentrated light, is introduced in a light-leading PMMA foil and  trapped  there.
This foil serves as a suitable substrate for two solar cells, which are mounted facing each other with their photoactive layers thereon.
The internal structure of the film is provided with micro-structures, which provide efficient illumination of the solar cells.The result is
a thin tandem cell, which can easily pile up in several sandwich layers.

This technology is very simple and inexpensive to manufacture. This new 3D modules can for example be installed within houses, ships, cars, or satellite, and then directly generate electrical energy.

This opens up new ways to utilize solar energy efficiently.
