Volunteering is important!

The Sunrise PSG welcomes parent involvement at any level.  Did you know that less than 10% of our parents were involved with the PSG last year?  We accomplished wonderful things (see “What the PSG Does”) but just think of what we could do if just 20% of our parents participated!  Most of our students have two working parents and we know your time is valuable.  Just a couple of hours a month can make a huge difference in what we can accomplish.  Sometimes we need something as simple as typing up a flyer or working a table for an hour at an event.  Many hands make light work!

Be a chairperson or committee member – What to expect:

Several years ago one of our parents had a wonderful idea to create a binder for every event or function the PSG is involved in.  We have been using and updating them for years now, making it very easy for event the newest PSG parent (or grandparent!) to work on a project. For example – the binder for the Holiday Shopping Boutique has a CD with all the paperwork, signs, etc that you will need.  Just update the dates and you are ready to print.  It also has instructions (including photos) of how to set up the tables on the day of the event.  There is even a list of what materials are needed and a timeline to help you plan.   In addition to the binder, our volunteer chairperson for an event has the entire PSG board & Sunrise staff to call upon for help.
