PSG Activities

Pizza at Open House  - The open house is run by the school but the PSG provides pizza and water.

School Picnic - Currently held at Rio Vista park.  We reserve several ramadas near the playground and have a BBQ/Potluck lunch.  The school provides the burgers and hot dogs and the parents bring in side dishes to share.  The kids have a wonderful time and it gives parents the opportunity to meet other parents.

Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ Tea – This event is held the day before Thanksgiving when many families might have out of town company visiting.  Our kids are so proud of their work and accomplishments and they love to show them off to Grandma & Grandpa or any other relative or friend who is in town.  At this event the PSG provides coffee and tea and the parents contribute baked goods.  The teachers are on hand to help the students share their work with their loved ones.

Holiday Shopping Boutique – Just before the December holidays we ask parents to help their children make a shopping list for people they would like to buy a present for.  Usually the list includes mom, dad, grandparents or siblings.  After you make the list for your child you go shopping for an inexpensive, small item (about $3.00) for everyone on your list. You also send your child in with enough money (one quarter per gift) to purchase.  All the gifts are arranged on a table and your child has the opportunity to select an item for their loved one and purchase it with their own money.  Not only does this teach a valuable lesson about the value of money but also instills the spirit of giving.

Spring Carnival or Unity Day (alternates each year) – The Spring Carnival is filled with good food, inflatable slides and pre-school & elementary appropriate carnival games where everyone gets to be a winner!  Unity Day is a great event that teaches our children about different cultures.  Families volunteer to create a booth to tell about the country or region they are from or know a lot about.  Students are given a “passport” and when they have collected a stamp from each country they can turn it in for a prize.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – The day after the last day of school the PSG hosts a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.  It’s varied over the years – everything from a simple potluck to treating the teachers to a lunch at the Country Club.  Regardless of the venue, it’s our way of showing our appreciation for everything the teachers do for our children.  We take donations from parents and if the budget allows we provide a nice gift or gift card as well.
