How to Get Involved

How Can I Get Involved in the REACH Program?

Volunteering:

We need volunteers every Friday night! If you feel led to commit to being at the REACH program on a regular basis, once or twice per month, great!  But if you can only come once, that’s great too- you’re help on that night is welcomed!

Worried you won’t know what to do or how to engage the youth? No problem. All stations (kitchen, recreation room, gym) have descriptions for set-up, clean-up, and monitoring throughout the night. Plus, engaging the kids is as easy as asking your neighbor how their day was. What’s important is your presence and showing that you care.

You can only come early for an hour or come late for an hour? Again, no problem. Some of the weekly volunteers have to come late and/or leave early so extra hands are needed to cover when another volunteer is unable to be there!

You don’t know anything about basketball? That’s just fine. The court only holds 10 youth at once. That means that there are normally about 30 other youth doing other things and you can join them or help out in the kitchen!

Another way to get involved is assiting with data entry periodically throughout the year.

As a necessary precaution, a volunteer application must be submitted and reviewed, and a Pennsylvania Childline Clearance is required to become a regular volunteer. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Lori Springer at summitreachprogram@gmail.com.

Donations:

You want to support the REACH Program but you can’t be there on a Friday night? Not a problem! Every Friday we provide pizza, snacks, and juice for the youth. If you can’t be present on Friday night, but you’d like to help by donating food for the evening you can make arrangements to drop of the donations in advance. Plus, as the program continues to grow, we are looking for ways to engage the teens in more activities (arts and crafts and games). We have some games but we could definitely use more and we’re just starting our arts and crafts so any supplies would be great!

What Kind of Food?                                           What Games?                                                          What Art & Craft Supplies?

-Juice Mix                                                            -Checkers (Regular, Chinese)                                    -Scissors

-Fruit (oranges, grapes)                                      -Decks of Cards                                                          -Glue, Tape

-Cookies, brownies, etc.                                     -Uno Cards                                                                  -Construction Paper

-Chips, Pretzels                                                   -Connect Four                                                             -Scrapbooking materials

Perhaps the most important way you can help support the REACH Program: PRAY, PRAY, PRAY

For what? For the opportunity to engage youth in ways that communicate the love of God. For conversations that challenge youth to dream big and work hard. For safety for the youth as they grow and learn and for the volunteers throughout the evening.
