Q: Can my child enroll in this program? A: If your child is entering first through fifth grade and lives in the greater Norwalk area, he or she is welcomed to sign up. Please click on the "enroll a child" link on the left. Q: I am looking for a summer volunteer opportunity. Do you take volunteers? A: Not only do we want volunteers, we can't run the program without them. You can learn more by clicking on "volunteer" on the left. Q: Why is the program free? A: There is no fee to participate because we want all Norwalk students to have access to literacy instruction in the summer. In addition, the program is part of a research project on the effectiveness of drop-in summer literacy programs. Q: I have a busy schedule. How will I be able to bring my child? A: The point of a drop-in program is to accommodate everyone's busy schedules. Just let us know when you can bring your child for a 45 minute session and we will make every effort to make it work. In addition, you can participate in as many or as few sessions as will work for you and your family. Q: My child has specific learning needs, will he or she be able to benefit from this program? A: Yes, because our program utilizes individual and small group instruction we will be able to adapt the instruction to meet each child's learning needs. If you have specific concerns, feel free to contact us. Q: I have multiple children can they all come at the same time? A: We try our hardest to schedule siblings during the same time block, but sometimes it is not possible due to our tight schedule. We are generally able to book siblings back-to-back if need be. |
