St Williams Ladies Guild Our History According to our records, St. Williams Ladies Guild began in 1973. At that time a handful of women gathered in one of their homes to talk about their doubts and beliefs and share their fears and dreams. They opened their homes, their arms, and their hearts to give one another comfort and support. It’s a tremendous help to know you’re not the only one. Although the ladies have come and gone, the purpose of St. Williams Ladies Guild remains the same: to love, to comfort and support one another. We laugh together, cry together, play together, pray together and grow together. We know that we can count on each other. There is a unique bond which binds the Ladies of the Guild. Newcomers are met with open arms and once again Christ’s love is extended to another woman—the center of the family.
Faith The focus of St. William’s Ladies Guild centers around personal and spiritual growth and emotional well being. Many of our meetings focus on different aspects of our faith and guide us in continuing to grow our relationship with God. Throughout the year we ask some of our religious leaders to be guest speakers at our meetings and to help us on our journey. We often pray the rosary and our meetings always end with special prayers. Our love for Christ is carried in our hearts and the Ladies of the Guild freely show it to all.
Fellowship & Fun We hold our meetings the last Monday of each Month, August–November and January—April. New members are always welcome and may come to any meeting. In August, our first meeting of the year, we host our annual Wine Cheese and Chocolate Social. This is a special time for us to welcome new members and for our seasoned members to catch up after the summer break. Our other Fall meetings and activities include a cookie exchange, pot luck dinner and Christmas shopping excursion. Our Spring meetings and activities include a salad supper to which we invite other ladies organizations of St. Williams and various other social activities such as girls night in, ceramics, movies, teas and shopping. Our final meeting of the year is generally held in May at a restaurant or home of one of our members. At this meeting we install new officers for the coming year and celebrate our friendship.
Fundraising The Ladies Guild participate in several fundraising activities throughout the year. Traditionally we host the cake wheel at both the Spring and Fall Festivals, from which the proceeds go directly to St. Williams to support the church. The Ladies Guild also hosts an annual Craft Fair and our much anticipated English Tea, Fashion Show and Silent Auction. Proceeds from these fundraisers are used to support the Parish Community through donations to the Youth Group, Annie’s Way, St. Vincent De Paul, spiritual retreats and scholarships for our youth to name just a few! Recently we were able to make donations to help build The Gathering Place Pavillion and the Sacred Heart Chapel.
