EFL Teacher Resources

After nearly 9 years of teaching English in Poland (6 1/2 years) and Germany (2 1/2 years), here are a few sites that really helped me out.  I hope they help you as well!

  • Dave's ESL Cafe:  This site is where I got my first job in Poland.  There are a few good resources including their job ad board, job discussion board and job journal.  However, there are some very bitter people who, for some odd reason, like to say something negative to nearly everyone who asks a question.  As long as you weed those people out on the discussion board, you'll do fine.
  • TEFL International:  Once you are a bit more experienced, or have your CELTA, this is the place to go for jobs.  Or even if you are looking for your fist job, it's a great resource with the possibility of having an online resume which you can send to any email address.  You can also sign up to have job listings sent to your email every day or week.
  • One Stop English:  LOTS and lots of free downloadable PDF files to help you out in the classroom.  Believe me!  These REALLY come in handy when you're in a pinch as to what you're oging to do that day.  They just started a new premium service (September 2006), but hopefully the stuff that has always been free will remain free.  Only time will tell..
  • Macmillan English:  Another site linked to the above site (One Stop English) with more downloadable items, mostly complementing their EFL books.  However, you can adapt many of these exercises to any book you may be using.

This is by no means an exhaustive list.  There are literally thousands of English sites out there--these are the ones that I have found most helpful .  I will add more to this list as I find more, or remember ones that I forgot when putting this together.

Any questions?  Just sign my guestbook with them!
