Pass It On - Outreach Programs for Younger Students

Student groups often have outreach programs.  Here you can learn more about them and the different ways they are getting younger students interested in Computing Science.

About ChicTech
ChicTech is an exciting and informative technical competition to encourage female high school students to:
  • Develop or expand an interest in Computer Science.
  • Contribute service to a non-profit organization.
How it Works
  • Each group of students builds or extends a website for a non-profit organization.
  • Teams are matched with 2 university mentors to guide & support you in website creation
  • At the end, your website could win you a cash prize!
No experience is necessary: If you're interested in helping your community and learning website building skills, that's all you need to get started!

Team Requirements
Each group must fulfill the following requirements:
  • 3 to 4 female Grade 9 or 10 students.
  • An advisor (a teacher or counselor) at your school who will help your team establish project milestones and project scope.
  • Computers and other resources to complete a website.
  • A non-profit organization, such as a community centre or a school team that needs a website developed

Awards
  • 1st place group: $250/person
  • 2nd place group: $150/person
  • 3rd place group: $100/person
  • Up to three honorary awards: $25/person
