In August 2009, 5 members of St. Timothy traveled to Tanzania to visit our sister parish in Irindi. Last winter they began planning a trip which would be a dream come true for all of them. They followed in the footsteps of two St. Timothy groups that visited Tanzania in 2003 and 2007. They started their journey on August 4th. The ambassadors from St. Timothy spent several days in Irindi and the area preaching points that are served by the Irindi parish. A primary purpose was to continue building the relationships that had been established. They also observed projects that have been supported by St. Timothy, visited with students who have received scholarships, and gathered information about the future needs of the parish. Then they spent about 5 days in other areas of the Iringa Diocese, where they visited projects and programs to learn about health care, education, agriculture, and the local economy. Some of these sites are supported by the St. Paul Area Synod. Other plans included a safari and a stay on the island of Zanzibar. Here are a couple videos of their experiences... |
