St. Timothy offers a wide range of ministry opportunities for adults. These ongoing ministries often augment one-time projects, events, and programs. If you are interested in participating in one of these adult ministries, please contact us for more information. Adult Forum-ation Sometimes a study group, sometimes an information session, Adult Forum-ation is open to everyone, and is held from 9:40-10:40 on Sunday mornings (between services). See the general announcements page for information on upcoming themes. Women’s Circles There is a long tradition at St. Timothy of women meeting together in small groups for Bible study. These groups, or “circles,” generally meet once a month at church or in a private home to study God’s Word and/or participate in service projects. St. Timothy supports several Circles, including the Eunice, Faith, Lois, and Lydia Circles. Studies recently undertaken by the Circles include “To God’s Beloved: Paul’s Letter to the Romans” and “Mary: A Woman for All Seasons.” These Circles are open to all women. Please contact the church office if you are interested in some lively discussion and great insight into the scriptures. Men's Bible Study Men's Bible Study meets at church at 7 pm on the second Sunday of each month. We do not meet during the summer. Historically this study has tended to focus on application of Christian faith to men's lives. We are currently working our way through Luther's small catechism to see how our experiences as adults have provided insights we did not have as confirmands. Golf Group During the summer, a group of men from St. Timothy get together and play a short round of golf several times a month. Good conversation and fellowship follows each round. Weather permitting, the season can run April through October. It is great practice for St. Timothy’s annual golf tournament. For more information, keep an eye on the general announcements page, or contact the church office. Prayer Shawl Ministry St. Timothy’s Prayer Shawl Ministry group generally gets together once a month to make prayer shawls (crocheted and knitted) to people in need. Prayer shawls have been given to St. Timothy members and to cancer patients at Park Nicollet Cancer Center. Anyone can join the ministry team, regardless of skill levels. People interested in learning how to knit or crochet, or need a refresher, are encouraged to attend. For more information, please keep an eye on the general announcements page, or contact the church office. Quilting St. Timothy women have a long history of meeting a few times a month at church for quilting and fellowship. St. Timothy’s quilting group has created and donated over 3,300 quilts. Quilts are generally donated or auctioned off to raise money for various causes. Anyone can join the quilting group, whether you are an expert or just learning. For more information on St. Timothy’s quilting group, please contact the church office. Leisure Age Leisure Age plans and promotes events targeted at seniors and retirees in the congregation. There is no “minimum age” requirement to participate and many of the events are open to people of all ages. In recent years, Leisure Age has organized service projects, visited the apple orchard, toured Minnesota History Center Exhibits, cruised the St. Croix River, attended theatrical productions, and explored the new light rail lines. For information regarding upcoming Leisure Age events, please keep an eye on the general announcements page, or contact the church office. Faith by Foot During the summer of 2010, St. Timothy members embarked on a new form of Bible study, called Faith by Foot. The idea was to get people thinking about the relationship between their body, mind and spirit. The goal of the study was to integrate the ELCA Wholeness Wheel with the Book of Faith Initiative while taking advantage of warm summer evenings. Click here for a more complete description and links to the documents used for each Faith by Foot session. |
