Loaves and Fishes Loaves and Fishes is a non-profit, volunteer driven agency dedicated to feeding the hungry of the Twin Cities metro area with dignity and respect. We provide meals on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 5:00-6:00pm at St. Matthews Church. More people are needed to cook and serve for this program. Check the bulletin board or contact Angie Pitzer for details. Meals on Wheels Meals on Wheels is a program that provides nutritious meals to people who cannot access or prepare food for themselves. It is an important way to meet the dietary needs of those who are trying to stay in their own homes and maintain their independence. Volunteers also serve as a check-up system to make sure that those who are receiving meals are safe and well each day. We desperately need additional volunteers, including alternate fill-in drivers, for this program since some of our older members have reluctantly needed to retire from volunteering. If interested, please call the church office at 651-489-3900, or Janet Moseng at 651-487-3117 Sunday Van Drivers Several members volunteer their time on Sunday mornings to drive the church van and pick-up/drop-off members who are unable to drive to church. We stop at several senior residences in St. Paul and Roseville each week. Contact Dick Pinomaki (651-481-0331) if you are interested in driving, or would like a ride to/from St. Timothy. Habitat for Humanity Members of St. Timothy work on a local Habitat for Humanity home for a week each summer. The Gathering An adult day care program for people with early stage Alzheimer's. Providing a safe and enjoyable place for those who are experiencing early-stage memory loss and giving respite to caregivers who desire a break. This program is run in cooperation with Care Team Ministry of Lyngblomsten and District 10 Block Nurse Program. Volunteers are needed to provide transportation for the participants to the church, participate in the program for a whole or half day. The Gathering is coordinated by Lyngblomsten and made possible with the financial support of the Lyngblomsten Foundation, the Brookdale Foundation, the Minnesota Dept. of Human Services, St. Timothy Lutheran Church members, and Centennial Methodist Church members. The Gathering meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Centennial Methodist Church in Roseville, MN. Care Team Ministries Care Team Ministry is a joint partnership between Twin Cities-area Christian congregations and Lyngblomsten, a non-profit Christian senior health care and housing organization in St. Paul. Care Team Ministry responds, free of charge, to the non-medical “quality of life” needs of individuals and families of all ages not routinely fulfilled by existing social service programs. We are re-establishing a Care Team at St. Timothy so that we can do for a friend what a friend would do for us. Care Teams function as extended family members doing a broad range of activities such as regular visits, light yard work or household chores, shopping assistance, transportation, or support family caregivers. We are seeking volunteers from St. Timothy who are willing to provide some of these services. If you are interested in volunteering, or if you need assistance or know of someone who could use some help, please contact the church office or one of the co-leaders of the Care Team: Julie Bass Haugen 651-488-5838 Len Eilts 651-488-6370 Music on the Blacktop Each year in June, St. Timothy hosts Music on the Blacktop, an outdoor extravaganza of music, games, and food. and more! |
