The Committee on Institution-Wide Accreditation (CIWA) is a bridging division of the Middle States Association addressing accreditation with schools and school districts/systems that work with that continuum of students extending beyond the scope of either the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools (CES) or the Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools (CSS) alone. In addition, CIWA includes in its membership Service Agencies such as Intermediate Units (in Pennsylvania) and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (in New York).

  

On March 10-13, 2009, a Middles States team conducted a site review of the school to determine continued accreditation. In preparation for that visit, the school undertook a two-year comprehensive self study utilizing the Middle States Protocol, Reflections on Standards of Quality. Teachers, students, administration, staff, parents, community friends and Board members all participated in the self-study.  The resulting document was submitted to the Reviewing Team and it was used as a discussion point during the visit. 

A highlight of the visit was the Opening Night Dinner with the Team, parents, staff and a cadre of students who gave outstanding performances of their diverse talents. Among the student performances was an original poem by Miss Bailee Dukes about the school's theme for the 2008-09 year: Lead, Teach and Inspire. Her poem was so well received that it was incorporated in the Team's final report. Other performances included spanish songs, steel band music, dances and our flag girls.

The final report was most laudatory in its descriptions of the school, its programs and staff.  Certainly, Administration must thank all who contributed to this great success: teachers, staff, students, parents, community friends and Board.  This was truly a family affair. 

In a letter dated December 1, 2009 from the CIWA, Sts. Peter and Paul School was formally notified that its reaccreditation was APPROVED by the Commission for the period December 1, 2009-December 1, 2014.
