Fees and Bursaries

FEES
The 2011 camp fee is £282.  This fee includes return travel between London or Oxford and the camp by a chartered coach. It also includes all outings, visits and trips scheduled in the course of the camp.   The fee is set annually after a great deal of discussion and research and is less than the minimum needed to cover our expenses. which include camp site and storage space hire, coach rental, group trips and all the food and power necessary to cater for some 60 people for two weeks.  We are fortunate that the Diocese of Sourozh  offers us an additional grant without which the camp could not operate.

The fee can be paid via a cheque, made payable to St Seraphim Orthodox Youth Camp which should be sent together with the filled application form.  You can have the option of spreading the fee over 4 months, if you find this easier.  In this case, please send 4 cheques, each for £70.50, dated within 1 month of each other (e.g. 30th June, 30th July, 30th August and 30th September). Other payment arrangements are possible, please contact Anna Platt to discuss your requirements.

BURSARIES
Although we consider the camp fee to be excellent value for  money for a 12-day all-inclusive residential programme, we appreciate that some families may struggle to afford this amount.  We believe that no Orthodox child should be prevented from attending a spiritually-enriching activity for financial reasons, and are therefore pleased to offer a bursary of 20% to those who could not otherwise afford to send their child to the camp.  In recognition of their ministry in the Church, we also offer this bursary to all Orthodox clergy in respect of their children.

If you feel that you will require a bursary in order to send your child/ren to camp, please contact Fr Stephen or Anna Platt by email or telephone to discuss your needs.  You will find all the contact details on the Contacts page.  We also ask for a supporting letter or email from your parish priest, endorsing your bursary request. (This is clearly superfluous if the parish priest is requesting a bursary for his own children!) The easiest way to do this is to download and print a bursary application form (below) complete the top part and ask your parish priest to sign the the bottom part.  You can then send it together with the general application form and the cheque for reduced amount of £225 (representing 80% of the full fee).  In doing this, please bear in mind that the camp budget is very limited and we do not generate enough surplus income to offer many bursaries, so please only apply for a bursary if it is absolutely essential, and you have no other means of meeting the full cost.
