The camp is run by a team of dedicated staff members, headed by Fr Stephen Platt, the camp chaplain, who is responsible for the overall welfare of everyone on the site. He is helped by other Orthodox youth leaders, both lay and in holy orders. The children are organised into tent groups and their day-to-day activities are supervised by their tent leader, an experienced Orthodox young adult helper. Encouraged by their tent-leaders, the children tidy their tents, carry out their share of common chores, but also play together, perform sketches and join in with all the other activities on offer. The tent leaders are also the first post of call in case of home sickness or other problems. Most of the camp leaders are former campers themselves, so are well equipped to advise their charges. Minor ailments are dealt with on site by a medically qualified member of staff and the camp is able to use the GP surgery 2 miles away for more serious complaints. |
