Stella Vista is a charming getaway lodge offering fabulous views of an
ancient seabed in old Apache country and panoramas of the many-hued Sawtooth Mountains. Pie Town, six miles away with a population of 75, is the nearest community. Catron County covers 8000 square miles, larger than Connecticut and Rhode Island together, with a population under 3000.
Stella Vista provides simple but comfortable quarters with a fully equipped kitchen, a laundry, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom adjoins a private bath with a large garden tub. The guest room features a full-size bed and a double futon. Including the king-size futon in the living room, the Lodge can sleep 4-6 people.
Room for one more is availale in The
Casita, a stone cottage on a scenic promontory that overlooks the
Sawtooth and Alegres Mountains. This small stone room is extra cozy with
its woodstove and skylight for stellar observation from bed! Star-Rancher Observatory. Here you may take a "Tour of the Universe," observing planets, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies (weather permitting).
