Religion: Roman Catholic (Per William F. Stroup, Sr., his dad was converted to Catholicism in order to marry Edna.)

Edna was raised by her Aunt.  Her dad died at a young age--but cause is not known.  According to family lore, he got drunk one night, stole a horse and was hung.  This could end up being lifted to an unaswered family hisory question on the home page.  Cause of death for her mother is also not known but does coincide to an influenza outbreak in Ohio.   According to family lore, Edna had a pursuing boyfriend or fiance.  So, to escape him, they went to KY and got married.

 

Children:

Caroline Mae (5JUL1942-1978).  M. Grayson Gilmer.  Both buried in Perris Valley Cemetery, Perris, CA.  Died from skin cancer.

Geraldine Maude (24 OCT ?1943- NOV 1984).  Hitch-hiked to Mary Ann's funeral.  She was killed when the truck was involved in an accident.  Buried in California.

Mary Ann (2SEP1955-7SEP1984).  Was murdered, shot with a rifle, outside a bar called the "Hilltop" in Perris, CA.  (looking for newspaper articles to confirm)

Debra Kathryn (7JAN1959-).  M. Ellis Lloyd Thomas (31MAR1979), divorced:  1995).

Janet Rose.  (17SEP1960-23JUN1998).  M.:  1980's, to somone with last name Williams, in CA, but only lived with him 3 days.  Was reported missing in 1998.  Her remains were found that year but were not positively identified until MAR 2006.  Open criminal case for MURDER.
