Strides for Timmy

The Cause:

The First Annual Strides for Timmy 4 Mile Walk/Run will benefit Athol resident Tim Gatautis who was injured while swimming at the end of June, 2010.

Tim suffered a catastrophic injury. He is paralyzed from the neck down and will be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Currently, he is at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston receiving therapy.

Major alterations must be done and adaptive equipment for daily living have to be purchased before Tim can return home. Doors need to be widened and a new accessible bathroom have to be installed in the home. A handicap ramp has to be built. An accessible van will be needed to transport Tim to and from the many out-of-town appointments he will have. He needs adaptive technological equipment. His needs are innumerable.

The family is trying to gather the resources to pay for the expenses that insurance will not cover. The Strides for Timmy 4 Mile Walk/Run is a fund raising effort to help the family defray some of these costs.
