Churches like to know they are engaged in service in a meaningful way. SYM has many opportunities for individual involvement and can help host service projects. In addition, many churches choose to become partners with SYM. We can take church engagement to higher levels by creating meaningful and significant roles in the ministry for churches and church groups:- Get permission to place our brochure in your mission opportunity area and links to our website on your church web.
- Get permission for us to make use of your communication platforms (newsletters, bulletins, etc.) for our bi-weekly and monthly volunteer publications.
- Own one night per month of our Wednesday night transportation from campus to a North Austin church. Recruit volutneers for the trip there and back for 15 people.
- Own our dog-sitting calendar at a North Austin church. We need dog sitters each Wednesday night from 5:15 to 7:00. Youth can do this in pairs and multiple shifts. We do provide college reference letters and service hours.
- Become a facilities partner if you are in the West Campus area. We are looking for facilities partners to host weekly meeting in their facility:
- Self-study time
- Discipleship time
- Become a resource church by owning one of our ministry closets and food calendars for a specific weekly event. You would receive notice of how we do each week, what we're running low on, and use your church network to obtain in-kind donation of the needed items. Events serve 10 to 20 youth each week so this is easily managed. You would also manage the food calendar for the event, making sure we have volunteers signed up each week. We can support you with photos, quotations, and progress reports.
- Monday morning prayer time (minimal supplies, breakfast tacos or similar for a dozen people)
- Tuesday afternoon bible study (socks, dog food, clothing, meal for 20)
- Friday afternoon outreach (socks, dog food, clothing, meal for 20)
- Form a missional community of college aged youth and meet in the West Campus area, using some from your group and two street youth as Christian seeds. The missional community leaders would need to attend training together with Campus Renewal Ministries. They would then need to be inclusive of those we serve, recruit and grow, with the purpose of sharing Christ in a natrual and meaningful setting.
- Be a resource partner or facility partner for our Cold Weather Response efforts. A resource church helps gather needed materials when cold weather is expected and a facility church provides space for collecting and staging the material near the West Campus area.
- Become a financial partner. We are ready to help you church involve itself through volunteers, service, and financial stipend. We have many engagement tools to keep volunteers informed and engaged.
