Monthly Needs

Below is a sign-up list of things we are asking for help with this month. To claim an item, just click the "I'll Do That" button. You can read more about our needs below the chart. After you claim the item(s), please use our donation form to schedule delivery and choose a drop-off site.

How Much It Matters

SYM volunteers provide much of the material used to provide basic services to street youth. This significantly stretches and adds to our ministry budget.(You can see budget progress on the graph on the Regular Giving page.) Thank you for helping as you are able with our needs. We also list needs once a week on our FaceBook fan page.

For Clients

SYM always need baked goods. We use them up quickly with so many young people. We are happy to take leftover sandwiches and sweets from meetings and events. These are frozen and then used for our weekly events. We can always use chips (regular bags or individually packages), disposable plates and cups.

Street Youth Ministry needs modest quantities of the following for directly benefit of Austin street youth. We have very limited storage and don't go through more than 5 a week or so since about half our clients have access to these items from other sources:

Priority Items

Water bottles (so we can be greener)
Underwear (new or gently worn, freshly washed), adult sizes.
Dog equipment: collars, leashes, collapsing bowls, nail trimmers; dog food.
Deodorant
Razors
Tennis, skate, or running shoes (adult sizes) (Please write size on sole with permanent marker and tie like shoes together in sigle bow with both laces)
Short Pants (adult sizes)

Sewing kits and floss (they use floww for sewing on patches)
Washcloths (The kids love getting washcloths to help stay cleaner using mostly sinks)
Work boots, military combat boots, and hiking boots (adult sizes) (Please write size on sole with permanent marker and tie like shoes together in sigle bow with both laces)
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Sample sizes of shampoo, conditioner, soap and other toiletries
Summer Items (February-October)

Running shorts (or similar): adult sizes
Sandals/Flip-flops
Sunscreen and wipes
Sun glasses
Bug spray and wipes
Tee-shirts, adult sized

Camping Equipment

Tarps, 8 X 10 for camping, darker or muted colors
Tents: two man, small, and light-weight, darker or neutral colors
Backpacks (school type as well as frame hiking type

Discipleship workbooks
Guitar strings and picks (and for that matter... guitars)
Winter Items (October-February)

Sleeping bags
Gloves (the best ones are not bulky to allow good manipulation)
Thermal underwear (especially bottoms) or similar, adult sizes
Blankets
Hoodies, fleeces, and coats: adult sizes
Pants (prefer stretchy or non-fitted pants but jeans OK)

Our Christmas Party And Christmas Gifts

Our Christmas party will be in December and we need lots of donations for that. A list of volunteer sign-up positions will be posted after Halloween. We hope to give each client a Christmas gift. You can be part of our Christmas Tree of Giving program.

For the Missionary

Street Youth Ministry needs the following for benefit of the family budget. We have to keep the lights on to have a ministry! The following would be helpful as personal gifts:

A safe vehicle that can be fixed up to my daughter's starter car. Tax deductible receipt available for full value since we will not be selling it.

For the Ministry

Street Youth Ministry needs the following equipment and supplies for use in the ministry:
