About the Junior Choir
Who are we? St Peter's Junior Choir is a choir of about 30 children based at St Peters church in Bishops Waltham, with young singers aged between 7 and 16 years old. What do we do? We rehearse every Friday during term time from 6 – 6:45pm in church. We sing at least once every half term at either the 9:15 in church or the Hall service. We also sing at a concert at the end of each term. What kind of music do we sing? Energetic warm-ups, rounds, hymns, anthems (occasionally with the adult choir). Longer children's choral works e.g. Joseph and the Technicolor® Dreamcoat, Daniel, a Hard Act to Swallow, Swinging Samson, The Peace Child and The Owl and the Pussycat. We sing in parts wherever possible. We try to encourage the children to read musical notation. Why do we do it? It's great fun! The children all love to sing (and dance). We hope that we are helping to produce the church choir of the future! Money Matters We charge each child £5 per term which covers all of our costs, including music and costume purchases! If you live in or near Bishops Waltham and are interested in joining the Junior Choir, please contact the choir director, Fleur Wainwright.
