EDUCATION and GROWTH

We are called to provide educational opportunity for spiritual growth and leadership development that enable us to proclaim by word and Example the Good News of Christ.

Education Ministry Team

The focus of this team will be to provide leadership, materials and opportunities that help lead others to a personal relationship with God through Christian Education programs (including but not limited to Sunday School).

We would seek to establish both formalized and informal opportunities offering courses and shorter evening or one day workshops.  A program could be offered during coffee hour or be provided at varying times for different members and groups.

Parishioners are looking for help in their Christian walk.  We can provide opportunities for meditation groups, adult education groups, and programs geared to 18-25 year olds as examples.  We can have sessions aimed at discerning our talents.  A parish wide Mission could be planned.  Adult Sunday School could be an outcome.  Intergenerational activities would be beneficial.

Educational offerings could be designed to assist the Worship, Belonging and Service Ministry Teams.

We may wish to develop a Resource Centre that provides books and videos in areas that would support our member and family needs for quality entertainment and education.

In all this we would strive to be outward looking as well as inward focusing.  By offering these programs for spiritual and personal growth, we also will be building community.  An invitation to a friend to come to a course or program of their interest is a way of showing hospitality could be less threatening than a direct invitation to church.    The educational programs we offer can be an excellent opportunity to help us show the transforming love and justice of God in action.
