Here are some Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is Mothers & More different from other Moms' groups?

We focus on Mom as a whole person - whether you're a full-time caregiver, juggling the demands of paid work and family care, or making a transition between the two. We recognize that mothers need meaningful connections. We provide an extended community of women who support each other through the challenges that affect a mother's life.

Q. Is Mothers & More for at-home moms or working moms?

All of the above - and more! Mothers & More champions the value and necessity of all mothers' work to society - paid and unpaid, within and outside the home. By uniting mothers to act on their own behalf, we seek to influence policies, practices and attitudes that unfairly impact mothers as caregivers. We realize that your current situation is likely to keep changing and evolving as your kids grow.

Q. What is "sequencing"?

Mothers often alter their participation in the paid workforce over the course of their active parenting years. This fluid work pattern, which occurs over a number of years and at various stages of motherhood, is known as "sequencing".

Q. What do you mean by the term "seasoned mom"?

That's a term we use to refer to mothers with older children. Often, mothers' groups focus on women with babies or younger children. Mothers & More understands that moms need support and connections during all the changing stages and ages of their children's lives. We welcome all mothers and value the wisdom of these "seasoned" pros.

Q. What do you offer besides chapter meetings?

There are many activities to keep you engaged. You'll see we offer both mom-only and kid-included outings.

Q. Do I have to join right away or can I try Mothers & More first to see if it is right for me?

Newcomers can preview up to two (2) Chapter Meetings before deciding to become a member. Come to our next meeting and get to know us. Mom and kid events are restricted as members-only in the interest of creating a kid-safe atmosphere.

Q. Do your kids have to be a certain age?

No. From moms-to-be to seasoned moms with older children, all are welcome and valued. Mothers & More believes all mothers benefit through support and connections with each other.

Q. Do I join nationally or locally?

When you join Mothers & More, your $45 annual membership dues include access to both national and local chapter benefits.

Q. I'd love to become a member but I'm facing a tight family budget. What can I do?

Mothers & More knows that families can face tough money choices, making even a few dollars per month a stretch. During these times, mom can especially use supportive connections. Please contact our Membership Coordinator for information about our scholarship option. Your request will be handled with respect for your privacy.

Q. Am I assigned to a chapter based on where I live?

You can designate whichever chapter best suits your needs. Links to other Minnesota chapters are listed on the left. If you live in an area not already served by a Mothers & More chapter and would like to learn how you can start a chapter near you, please contact the National Office.

Q. Is it true that Mothers & More is a volunteer-run organization?

That's true at both the national and chapter levels. One of the most rewarding things about being a member is the opportunity to shape and contribute to your organization. Chapter committees benefit from the many ideas and talents our members have. Plus, it's a fantastic way to keep those skill sets sharpened and honed.
