Pack 61 Cub
Scouts have been working hard earning beads and badges this year. The Tiger scouts are the youngest cub
scouts and they have been busy lately doing their “go see it” visits. These visits are sort of a small field
trip usually to tour a public or historical place. A police station, fire station, library, or museum would be
a good example. They are a very
enthusiastic group. It was fun
watching them cheer for each other during our recent Pinewood Derby car races
held in the St. Paul church basement.
Each spring our
Cub Scout pack holds a Pinewood Derby car race. A wooden track belonging to our
Pack and elevated at one end is used to race the cars. We spent one of our Tuesday night den
meetings cutting out the cars. The
boys take them home and decorate any way they want. We award trophies for first, second, and third and also for
“Turtle” (slowest car), most original, most patriotic, and sportsmanship. A big
thanks to Lisa Wehrspann and some Troop 48 scouts for organizing and running
the race.
Please encourage
anyone with a boy in first through fifth grade who is interested in
Scouting to contact Mark Litka. Mark’s phone numbers are 582-3418 and
581-8840. Please leave a message
if there is no answer. Mark’s email is Litkamarka@johndeere.com.
