For almost three decades, the Youth Commission has provided summer trips to the youths of Stoughton ten years old and up to eighteen. We offer weekly trips to various area destinations, including the Whale Watch, Mystic Aquarium, the South Shore Music Circus, Charles River Boat Tour, local sporting events, and our always-popular George’s Island. The trips are funded primarily by fundraisers and local businesses. However there is a nominal fee. Scholarships are available for Operations Horizons. We would like to thank the following businesses and groups for their continuing support: Bob's Famous Foodmart, The Knights of Columbus, the Babe Ruth League and everyone who attended and made our fundraiser such great events.
In these tough economic times, we feel it more important than ever to offer the trips to Stoughton youth, who otherwise might not have anything to look forward to do in the summer. The trips are mainly funded by fundraising and donations from local businesses. If you own or know someone who would like to make a donation, please let us know. We do encourage any participants and parent/guardians in the program to donate and/or attend fundraisers for this purpose.
NOTE: All Operation Horizons trips are subject to funding. Registration fees are $40.00 for one child, $75 for two children and $100 for 3 or more, however scholarships are provided for those in need. You and/or the child may be asked for proof of Stoughton residency. We will attempt to accommodate each participant with the opportunity to attend at least 4 of the possible 7 trips that she/he selects as a first choice. Possibly more depending on sign ups for any given trip. The trips will be filled on a first come first serve basis. (*Location of Trips are subject to change, such as the movies if it rains)
