Each
course is composed of ~10 hours of lectures with ample discussion
time plus optional extra outdoor "lab" time. Those hours can be
distributed in periods ranging from
1 weekend (or any 2-day period) to 1 week to 1 month. Activity hours
extend from over a 4 hour period of lecture (main), lab &
discussion (optional), but participants are offered choices into
what components they choose. - A typical schedule or an afternoon/evening class looks like this:
- 5 - 6:30 pm : discussion or field trip (optional)
- 6:30 - 8:30 pm : lectures with Q&A or discussions
(depending on class)
- 8:30 - 9:00 pm : extended discussion (optional)
Each
is extensible to 6, 8, 10 or 12 days/weeks to cover 1.5, 2, 2.5 or 3
times the information, respectively.
All are also expandable
into existing advanced courses that will add much depth to each
topic.
The
full set addresses all core principles of systems sciences, Gaia theory
&
climate change. Topics
within each course are woven into a whole, & each course is
part of the story told by the set. They can be studied concurrently
or sequentially in any order.
| CostsCourses will "make" (run)
when the total contribution from all students combined reaches
$100/hour. (This is the price for individuals; please contact me for rates for organizations, businesses & schools.)
- NOTE: The price of $100 per hour does not mean
that each person will pay that much. It means that in order
for a seminar, course or workshop to run, that much (or
more) per hour must be contributed as a total
from all participants combined. Typical costs to individuals, therefore, range from an average of $5/hr to $20 per hour per person for enrollments
of 5
or more students. (See table below for examples.) Thus, the more participants there are in any given class, the lower an individual's fee will be. You can help lower your class fee by recruiting people from your community to take part in the class with you.
- Examples
Student number
| Average fee per hour per student
| | 20 | $5 | | 10 | $10 | | 5 | $20 | | 2 | $50 |
- Participant number is limited to 20.
- Sufficient commitments required by
the first day of class, to insure that the full class will run. However, even if a class does not "make" due to insufficient enrollment, students can still contract with me to teach a shorter class.
