If you are just beginning your family history search, Lisa Louise Cooke's Family History: Genealogy Made Easy podcast is a great place to start. And be sure to visit the FamilySearch site where you'll find research guidance, lessons, software, databases (including the 1880 US Federal Census), and access to the Family History Library catalog. Record Search, a pilot website of FamilySearch, contains millions of records indexed by volunteers and has links to original records. And Cyndi's List
offers over 264,000 links to genealogical sites.

Ancestry.com Part of The Generations Network. Huge collection of census records, immigration, natuarlization records, family trees, directories nad more. Databases may be searched without charge, but some records require a paid membership.

Iowa Genealogical Society Located in Des Moines.
"Our state-of-the-art facility integrates technology with traditional
research. The facility provides a wireless network, high speed Internet
access, a bank of computers, and a reader-printer that scans microfilm
images direct to CR-ROM. There are 20,000 volumes and 15,000
microforms, including: vital records, histories, federal and state census records, military records, and more." State Historical Society of Iowa "The State Historical Society of
