Creators of Chimney Rock and Nightmares and Dreamscapes
Welcome! Storage 177 is the somewhat temporary (well, I don't see it being changed in the near future) title of our film-producing group. No, we did not make the Nightmares and Dreamscapes you are probably thinking out, and we would never ever claim to. We used the title before that came out, and have yet to change it (but we will). We're currently college freshman and my fellow group members have no idea that I've made this website now, at 1:19 am, because I haven't even talked to them about it and I really like to make random websites and then forget about them and it's all sad business, really.
Projects
'Storage 177' aka Nightmares and Dreamscapes
In this science fiction drama, five teenagers are offered the opportunity to go inside a virtual reality program that bases the virtual world based on the characters' wants, desires, personality and weaknesses. Each teen arrives in their own 'world', which is then sewn into the patchwork main world. They can travel to any person's world they want -- but the question is, do they want to?
Chimney Rock movie
A simple camping trip twists into a complicated who-dunnit as six teenagers are detained when they try to leave, all suspects for murdering their close friend, Mina Harker.
About Storage 177
In fall 2002, a group friends joined a small improv and drama club, Little Theater (or 'Theatre'), at their high school. Much fun was had by all as we subjected our peers with Monty Python and the Holy Grail, essentially acting out various scenes all year. We actually performed a few scenes at our bi-annual Coffee House: Scene 1 ("Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?") and Scene 5 ("How do you know she is a witch?") in the first show, and something else for the second, I don't remember what, but it was probably fun and hilarious. Also for the second show, we adapted scenes from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and performed them, and I, Elizabeth, was part of this (so naturally this skit was more important :P).
Sophomore year (2003-2004) we gained a bunch of new members after making friends with a nerdy group of guys. I'm sad to say that freshman year was our best year, and I mean no offense to the guys, but really, everything went downhill afterwards. I know we performed the Herbert scene from Monty Python in 2005 (I was Prince Herbert), but I didn't go to the Coffee House sophomore year because I was grounded.
Late sophomore year, Christine and I began our troubling foray into movie making. We developed the concept for our "Chimney Rock" murder mystery and started writing the script. We enthusiastically picked out a cast and after a few scenes were written, decided to hold a rehearsal. That flopped. Our dialogue was poorly written and it showed. We continued to work on it the beginning of junior year (fall 2004), but essentially the script failed and still hasn't been finished (I work on it now and then, though).
Spring 2005 I came up with the early concepts for the sci fi movie after watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Actually those characters never made it into the movie, but I went to Christine with the idea and we continued to develop it. We actually managed it finish the script by June, and started filming over the summer. We didn't get to finish filming, though, because we're poor planners and poor directors and the scenes didn't come off the page as well as we liked, so we had lots of discussion going on instead of actual filming. There are a few DVDs Christine handed out to a few people with a final edited version, but this is missing more than half the scenes we actually did film and I want to do a better job editing. I've pretty much given up on finishing the shooting, though. Alas.
Behind the Name
We decided to call our Chimney Rock project the Chimney Rock project because that's the name of a nearby park or camping place or hiking grounds and we planned to shoot the film there. When we were working on our sci fi project, we needed something to refer to it by other than "that movie we're working on". Maria and I were in hackey sack in gym class, which meant we were in the hallway outside the gym, and there's a storage room right where we were, so we decided to use the room number Storage 177 as a temporary title. It seemed to have stuck, until we thought of Nightmares and Dreamscapes. But then that ended up being taken too (Stephen King piece), so we're back to Storage 177 and the name has to get changed.
Future Plans?
In progress: 'Ashes', story by Christine. Screenplay is still being written (started working on this summer '07).
Also, I finished a script for Script Frenzy last June, although it's not really filmable by our standards (being all incapable of special effects and everything). Script Frenzy is going to be in April this year, which means that I definitely won't be completing anything (I think I managed 2,000 words for NaNoWriMo... November is a REALLY bad month for a college student! It's the month before finals. So is April! I don't know what they're thinking).
Nothing is actually planned yet for this summer. People will probably be too busy making money to be able to do anything.
