On-going Community Programs and Service Women's Guild The members
of the Women's Guild join the quilters, some of whom are also Guild
members, on the first Thursday of every month.for lunch and
fellowship. Afterwards we have a short meeting to discuss some of
the projects we are involved in. These projects range from flowers
or food for shut-ins, to cows for widows in India, or various
projects through our mites and the Women's Missionary League.
What
is a mite? A mite can be a little insect or a parasite, which can be
destructive. A mite can also be a Widow's mite, which might
not be much, but can do a lot of good. There is always a large
mite box on the table in the entry way, where any change can be
deposited to help people all over the world. At a recent
convention the League pledged to help with projects that total well over
a million dollars.
You don't have to be member. You can just
come for lunch and some fellowship!
Quilters
Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th, Thursdays, ladies from the congregation gather together to enjoy some fellowship and make quilts that are sent around the world to those in need. Bring your own sack lunch and spend part of your day reaching out to others through sewing quilts. No particular skills are needed.
Good Shepard Home of the WestGood Shepherd Lutheran Home of the West provides Christ-centered
support making a difference in the lives of individuals with
developmental disabilities and other disabling conditions. At St. Mike's, we support these homes with our finances and we collect Campbell’s soup labels, Santiam labels, and Flav-or-pak labels that the Home can turn in for supplies.
