Welcome to our Wild Trout Competition page. The competition will be held on the 15th of April 2012. The competition will be by any legal method fishing for our wild Trout. so why not come along and test your skills against a most formidable and worthy opponent. The entry fee is £16.00 and included in this is your days fishing on our scenic lochs, a bacon roll and coffee prior to registration at the Glen cafe on the banks of the loch o the Lowes. At the end of the competition just after the weigh in you are welcome to partake of a post mortem barbeque at the Tibbie Shiels Inn which is included in your entry fee. it looks like being a great day!

Two big changes this year are that you may fish catch and release if you wish. To use this method you must come equipped with a mobile phone in order to call a steward to come and measure your catch, the other is that fish will not be weighed but measured from the snout to the fork of the tail in millimetres. Full details will be issued to competitors with their entry tickets.

 

Prizes

The first prize has been graciously donated by Major Sir Neil Westbrook the owner of the Upper Pavillion on the River Tweed, the beat is immediately below Boleside and contains the famous pool Carey Weil as fished by Sir Walter Scott. The prize will be a full days fishing to be arranged at a mutually convenient time during the months of October/November 2012.  This prize is a huge coup for us as a club and the winner will be guaranteed a once in a lifetime event, with the chance of connecting with some very heavy Salmon during the months when the river is at its most productive! If in the event your day turns out to be unfishable due to the level of the river you will be offered another day at a mutually convenient time. If you are unlucky enough not to catch a fish we will give you another autumn day (subject to availability) or a day at the springers the following year!

To remind you of your halcyon day you will be presented with the Major Sir Neil Westbrook Challenge Cup which is a high quality trophy standing 12 inches tall and electroplated with pure 24 carat Gold (the photo does not do it justice)! The cup is yours to keep forever. We will have it engraved with your name as a permanent reminder of what we are sure will be a superb day!!

The second prize has been donated by Stevie Mcgeachy of Fast flies and is a fly box brimming with a great selection of professionally tied fly's. The selection will enable you to have the right fly on hand for whatever type of Trout you are fishing for! No more cursing because you dont have a wide enough range of flys.

The third prize is a meal for two at the Tibbie Shiels Inn or a bottle of your choice. The inn is situated at the head of St Mary's loch. If you opt for the meal you will be guests of Alistair and Selina the proprietors of the famous inn. There is a huge history associated with the inn and good food/company is guaranteed. The prize also includes free fishing on both lochs for the day.

So there you have it in a nutshell, a super days fishing, lovely scenery, good food and the chance of some great prizes! Because of the nature of the prizes demand will be heavy and places are limited so we have decided that entries will be allocated on a first come first served basis. So please dont delay and get your entry form in to guarantee your place!
