St. Louis SWE Officers

 
 
Cynthia Stranis, P.E.
President
 
Cynthia works at Scott Air Force Base, IL at HQ Air Mobility Command. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the City College of New York. She is a registered professional engineer in Missouri. A lifetime member of SWE, she has been a SWE Collegiate Counselor for SIU-E and the St. Louis SWE section President since Nov 2010. For fun she geocaches and plays board games. She lives in Swansea IL with her husband and their cat, Frito.
 
 
 
Debbie Wright
Vice President
 

Debbie has been a staff engineer with the City of Maryland Heights, Missouri Department of Public Works since 2005, and has a diverse work background.  Prior to receiving her B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2004, she obtained a B.S. in Secondary Education in 1974, lived in Germany for three years, then taught high school physics and mathematics for four years..  She also worked for nine years in the oil industry processing seismic data and testing geophysical software.  This is her first officer position with SWE and she is excited to help further SWE’s mission through the St. Louis Section.  She is also active in the Engineers’ Club of St. Louis.   Debbie lives in Maryland Heights with her husband Bill, an environmental geologist. 

 
  
 
Jamie Krakover
Secretary
 
Jamie is a Structures Engineer for Boeing Research & Technology.  She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University, and received a Master's Degree in the same field from Washington University before joining Boeing in 2006.  Jamie is excited to join the St. Louis SWE section officers.  She lives in Brentwood with her dog Sophie.
 
 
 
Heidi Houghton
Treasurer

Heidi is a Control Systems Engineer at Afton Chemical.  She graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas.  She is a life member of SWE.  Heidi is currently the Treasurer of the section.  In the past, she has held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, Section Representative, and Alternate Section Representative.  She lives in Saint Louis with her cats Mika and Joleen.
 
 
 
Katie Fox
Section Representative

Katie is an aerodynamics/CFD engineer for Boeing Research and Technology and has been since graduating from Iowa State in August 2009.  She recieved both her Master's and Bachelor's degrees in aerospace engineering from Iowa State.  Katie was active in her Iowa State SWE section and is excited to become involved in the St Louis professional section.  Katie is married to Tyler, also a Boeing engineer, and lives in Creve Coeur.
 
 
Tracy Chamberlain
Alternate Section Representative
 
Tracy is a Program Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration. She joined the FAA in 1987 after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with a BS in Civil Engineering. Tracy currently serves the SWE’s St. Louis Section as the Alternate Section Represetative, and has held the positions of Vice President, Treasurer and Section Representative in the past. She lives in Creve Coeur with her husband Roger and their daughter Kate.
 
Casey Brennan
Outreach Coordinator
 
Casey is a Instrument and Controls Engineer for Nooter/Eriksen.  She just recently graduated in December of 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly, University of Missouri - Rolla).  She was an active member in the Missouri S&T section of SWE, but is excited to be the Outreach Chair for the St. Louis Section. Casey currently lives in Manchester with her dog, Luna.
 
 
Michelle Aikman
SIUE Collegiate Counselor
 
Michelle is an Employment Strategist and owner of Skilled Assets, LLC.  She earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines with a minor in Public Affairs and a MS in Engineering and Technology Management from Washington State University.  She lives in Maryville, Illinois with her active duty military husband and two small children.  She is excited to work with the local collegians to strength their club and to spread the word and excitement about the doors that open and the opportunities to improve the world through engineering.
 
 
Karren Watkins
Wash U Collegiate Counselor
 
Stemming from a lifelong love of math, science, and how things work, Karren pursued and received her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 2009.  After college she immediately began work as a manufacturing design engineer at Nike, IHM, Inc. in St. Charles, MO.  Knowing that her long-term pursuits would inevitably involve management, Karren was led to pursue her MBA, back at Washington University, where she is now a full-time graduate student.
