2012 Cup of Nations Soccer Tournament and Festival

2012 Tournament
Planning is underway for the 2012 Cup of Nations tournament and festival to be held on Saturday, August 25.  Our thanks to St Louis University High School for once again agreeing to host the event. Click on "Flyer" in the left sidebar for details and "Team Registration" to register your team.

2011 Tournament
Congratulations to the Afghan and Romanian teams for winning their divisions of the 2011 Cup of Nations tournament.
And thanks to SLUH and the many volunteers that made this tournament a success.

The 2011 Cup of Nations combined great competition for the athletes with a fun festival for their family and friends.  In addition to the three adult divisions, children and youth had the opportunity to compete this year.  In all, 23 teams representing many different countries participated.

The festival included wonderful food (including a grilled ram), special Russian, Indian and Romanian music and many features for the children.

Cloudy weather and temperatures in the 70's made for ideal soccer weather and we dodged the heavy rain showers that fell around us.

HERE is a video from the event.  Click HERE and HERE for photos.  More photos in the next column.

2010 Tournament
During the summer of 2010 South Africa played host to the most popular sporting event in the world – World Cup 2010. The World Cup consists of 32 teams from 32 nations competing in the soccer world championship. In order to participate in the excitement, St Louis held it's own World Amateur Cup on Saturday, July 31.  Sixteen teams competed in two divisions (open and 35+) representing many countries from the Americas (North, Central and South), Eastern Europe, Middle East, Central and SE Asia and Africa.  Following competition, all participants and fans were invited to nearby Tower Grove Park for a picnic/BBQ, gifts and awards ceremonies.

See photos here and here, and a great video featuring Team USA team here.
